WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATOR

The Smallholder Farmers’ Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates of Malawi origin to fill the position of Weighbridge Clerk tenable at the Central Regional Office (Kanengo).

Reporting to           : Regional Business Officer

Purpose of the Job: 

To provide weighing service.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Directing vehicles to weighbridge and ensure that vehicles are rightly positioned.
• Ensure that all vehicles using the weighbridge service are within the acceptable weight limits of the weighbridges
• Vetting that the recorded weight (mass) on documents is the same as the one registering on the weighbridge, and report differences to proper authority.
• Directing vehicles to right loading and offloading positions.
• Reporting weighbridge faults.
• Making sure weighbridge is serviced and is in good working condition.
• Coordinate on weighbridge calibration and record weighbridge transactions.
• Ensuring safety and cleanliness of weighbridge.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• MSCE with a credit in Mathematics and English.
• Professional Diploma in Logistics, Business Administration or any related fields from a reputable institution.
• Experience in a similar position and computer literacy will be added advantages.
• At least three (3) years’ work experience in a busy organization with weighbridge experience.

Additional Skills and Abilities

• Good knowledge of agricultural marketing, logistics and warehousing.
• Good knowledge of Malawi Government’s agricultural marketing policies and strategies, especially as they relate to the smallholder agriculture sub sector.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong Business Acumen.
• Numerate and capable of planning and supervising agricultural marketing production data gathering and analysis and interpret trends as well as recommend policy interventions.
• Clear understanding of the business and legal environment of the industry
• General experience in human resource management and administration
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Exercising high degree of integrity, accountability and ownership in the performance of his/her duties.
• Be self-starter, effective team player and demonstrated verifiable result- oriented track record.
