Project: Technical, Environmental and Social Audits for the Malawi M1 Road Rehabilitation Project
Framework: Lot 3 – Mobility of the Framework Agreement to Support EIB Advisory Services (EIBAS) Activities Inside and Outside EU-27 (TA20210614 R0 FWA)

Dear colleagues,

We are currently identifying experts for an upcoming assignment under the European Investment Bank (EIB) Framework Agreement. The project involves the technical, environmental, and social audits of the Malawi M1 Road Rehabilitation Project, which covers approximately 347 km of single carriageway road.

Location: Malawi
Languages: Excellent English is required
Start date: June 2025
Duration: 24 months from start date

We are looking for the following expert:

Key expert 3: Social and Gender Expert (Category II)

Qualifications and skills:

• University degree in social sciences or other field relevant for the assignment.

• Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

• Knowledge of Chichewa and/or Tumbuka is an advantage.

General professional experience:

• 10 years of professional experience in social and gender development activities.

Specific professional experience:

• 5 years of relevant professional experience in resettlement and social safeguards for IFI-funded infrastructure projects.

• 2 relevant projects (conducting resettlement and social safeguards) in sub-Saharan Africa.

• 1 relevant project in the transport sector.
