VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
St. Andrews CCAP Mission Secondary School is pleased to announce the expansion of its educational mission with the opening of a new campus along the Mulanje Mission Hospital Road in Mulanje. Effective September 2025, the current campus will be designated as St. Andrews Girls Mission Secondary School, while the new facility will operate as St. Andrews Boys Mission Secondary School.
This development reflects our commitment to providing quality, gender-responsive education in a conducive and focused learning environment. In light of this expansion, St. Andrews CCAP Mission Secondary School invites suitably qualified, committed, and God-fearing individuals to apply for various
vacant positions across both campuses. These positions are critical to ensuring the successful launch and operation of the new boys’ school, as well as the continued excellence of the girls’ school.
Detailed descriptions of the available positions and application procedures are outlined below.
1. POST: DEPUTY HEAD TEACHER
Qualification: Education Degree or Diploma with over 5 years of teaching experience with proven records of performance. Registered with Teaching Council of Malawi and be proficient with MS. Office packages
DUTIES:
✓ Assisting with curriculum implementation, supervising teaching and learning, and monitoring students’ academic progress.
✓ Supporting and evaluating teachers and non-teaching staff; helping with professional development.
✓ Overseeing student discipline, managing behavior policies, and handling serious disciplinary cases in collaboration with heads of departments and class teachers.
✓ Assisting in the development of class schedules, exam timetables, and school event calendars.
✓ Helping management of day-to-day operations, including communication with stakeholders, record keeping, and handling correspondence.
✓ Taking charge of the school in the absence of the Head Teacher.
✓ Supporting student guidance and counseling services, addressing welfare concerns, and promoting a safe school environment.
✓ Coordinating extra-curricular activities, sports, and student clubs.
✓ Assisting in enforcing school rules, policies, and national education regulations.
✓ Acting as a bridge between staff, students, parents, and the school board.
2. POST: TEACHERS
Qualification: Education Degree or Diploma with 3 to 5 years of teaching experience respectively with proven records of performance.Registered with Teaching Council of Malawi Major Teaching Subjects: Agriculture, Biology, English, Physics, Chemistry, History, Chichewa, Geography, Computer studies & Mathematics
DUTIES:
✓ Prepare and deliver lessons in line with the curriculum.
✓ Use various teaching methods to engage students and cater to different learning styles.
✓ Maintain discipline and create a conducive learning environment.
✓ Handle classroom behavior in accordance with school policies.
✓ Set, mark, and grade exams, assignments, and tests.
✓ Provide feedback to students and record academic progress.
✓ Offer academic and personal guidance to students.
✓ Identify and support students with special learning needs or behavioral challenges.
✓ Communicate with parents/guardians regarding students’ progress and concerns.
✓ Work collaboratively with colleagues, school administrators, and support staff.
✓ Supervise and participate in extracurricular activities such as clubs, sports, or school trips.
✓ Maintain accurate records, including attendance, grades, and student reports.
✓ Participate in staff meetings and contribute to school decision-making processes.
3. POST: ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
Qualification: Applicants must be in possession of Malawi School Certificate of Education, A diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. At least 2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting.
DUTIES:
✓ Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, receipts, and invoices
✓ Record daily financial transactions and reconcile ledgers.
✓ Assist in preparing and monitoring school budgets and expenditure reports.
✓ Maintain up-to-date records of fee balances and follow up on outstanding payments.
✓ Assist in processing orders and maintaining records of goods and services received.
✓ Help manage inventory and store records.
✓ Support the preparation of payroll by maintaining accurate staff attendance and payment data.
✓ Prepare periodic financial summaries for internal use or external auditors.
✓ Work with auditors, banks, suppliers, and other stakeholders as directed by the School Accountant.
4. POST: SECRETARY
Qualification: Applicants must be in possession of Malawi School Certificate of Education, with certificate or a diploma in secretarial studies, office management, or a related field is often preferred.
DUTIES:
✓ Prepare exam papers, reports, letters, minutes, and other school-related documents.
✓ Input student records, grades, and other administrative data into school databases.
✓ Maintain digital and physical copies of important documents.
✓ Assist teachers and administrative staff with document preparation.
✓ Handle reproduction of learning materials.
✓ Type official correspondence for internal and external communication.
✓ Undertake reception duties
✓ Maintains the Head of institution appointments diary
✓ Operate office equipment of various types such as Computers, printers, Photocopiers, Scanners etc.
5. POST: LIBRARY ASSISTANT
Qualification: Applicants must be in possession of Malawi School Certificate of Education, with certificate or a diploma in library science or information management.
DUTIES:
✓ Organizing and shelving books and other materials in proper order.
✓ Assisting students and teachers in locating resources and using library services.
✓ Issuing, renewing, and receiving returned books and materials.
✓ Maintaining accurate records of borrowed and returned materials.
✓ Helping to manage library inventory and performing regular stock checks.
✓ Ensuring that the library environment is quiet, clean, and conducive to study.
✓ Assisting in cataloging new books and labeling them appropriately.
✓ Monitoring students’ use of library resources to prevent misuse or damage
✓ Process student fee payments and issue receipts.
POST: SCHOOL CLEANER
Qualification:Applicants must be holders of the Junior Certificate of Education and those with MSCE will have an added advantage.
DUTIES:
✓ Cleaning offices and Classrooms; sweep, mop, and sanitize floors, desks, chairs, and boards daily.
✓ Disinfect toilets, sinks, floors, and replenish supplies like toilet paper and soap.
✓ Collect and dispose of waste from classrooms, offices, and outdoor bins regularly.
✓ Corridor and Stairwell Maintenance: Sweep and mop hallways and stairs to prevent slips and maintain a tidy appearance.
✓ Clean windows, glass panels, and doors to ensure clarity and cleanliness.
✓ Assisting with School Events; Set up and clean before and after school functions or meetings as required.
7. POST: MESSENGER
Qualification: Applicants must be in possession of a Malawi school certificate of Education (MSCE)
DUTIES:
✓ Deliver letters, notices, circulars, and memos between departments, classrooms, the headteacher’s office, and external institutions.
✓ Running official errands for school administrators, such as delivering documents to the education office, post office, banks, or suppliers.
✓ Support clerical staff by handling minor office tasks like photocopying, binding, and organizing files.
✓ Move stationery, books, and teaching materials between the store and classrooms or offices.
✓ Handle sensitive documents with care and uphold discretion.
✓ Deliver meeting reminders, materials, and help with setup when needed.
✓ Escort visitors to the appropriate offices or departments.
✓ Help maintain cleanliness in the office area or staffroom.
✓ Serving refreshments
✓ Accurately communicate brief verbal messages between staff when necessary.
8. POST: SECURITY GUARD
Qualification: Applicants must be in possession of a Junior Certificate of Education, or Malawi School.
Age: 30 – 40 years
DUTIES:
✓ Monitor and control entry and exit points to ensure only authorized individuals enter school premises.
✓ Conduct regular patrols of the school grounds, buildings, and surrounding areas to detect and prevent security breaches or suspicious activities.
✓ Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies such as fights, accidents, or intrusions, and report them to the appropriate authorities.
✓ Register and screen visitors, ensuring they follow school protocols and are escorted when necessary.
✓ Ensure the safety of students, staff, and school property during school hours and events.
✓ Help enforce school rules and policies by identifying and reporting violations.
✓ Maintain daily logs and incident reports for administrative review and record-keeping.
✓ Intervene in minor disputes and de-escalate potentially volatile situations when safe to do so.
✓ Prevent vandalism, theft, or misuse of school property, especially after school hours or during holidays.
9. POST: GROUND LABOURER
Qualification:Applicants must be in possession of a Junior Certificate of Education or Malawi School Certificate of Education
DUTIES:
✓ Mow lawns, trim hedges, and maintain flower beds.
✓ Remove weeds, fallen leaves, and other debris from school grounds.
✓ Sweep and clean pathways, courtyards, playgrounds, and assembly areas.
✓ Empty outdoor trash bins and dispose of litter appropriately.
✓ Assist with basic maintenance of outdoor structures such as fences, benches, and gates.
✓ Report major repair needs to the supervisor.
✓ Watering lawns, young trees, and flowers regularly.
✓ Ensure proper functioning of hoses, sprinklers and lawn mower.
✓ Clear mud, or water from pathways to ensure student and staff safety.
10. POST: COOKS
Qualification: Applicants must be in possession of a Junior Certificate of Education, or Malawi school certificate of Education (MSCE) with at least 2 years’ experience.
DUTIES:
✓ Prepare and cook nutritious meals according to the school menu and dietary guidelines.
✓ Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
✓ Ensure proper food storage, handling, and sanitation according to health regulations.
✓ Monitor stock levels of food supplies and kitchen items.
✓ Request or order food and ingredients as needed, avoiding waste.
✓ Keep records of meals served, food usage, and supplies inventory.
✓ Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment and report faults promptly.
✓ Serve students meals during meal times.
✓ Comply with school policies, health regulations, and safety procedures.
