1.0 LAB TECHNICIAN
BACKGROUND
Beehive Centre for Social Enterprise is dedicated to transforming lives and communities through innovative and sustainable social enterprises. With a staff of over 590, we run schools, businesses, farms and a construction enterprise.
Beehive Centre for Social Enterprise will run a fortified porridge factory in Chileka as part of its wider mission to create jobs and serve the community. Our Likuni Phala supports school feeding programs across Malawi, including our own Seibo initiative, which reaches over 18,000 children.
We are seeking a Lab Technician to help ensure our product meets the highest safety and nutritional standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Perform laboratory analysis on maize, soya, and blended samples to assess moisture, protein, fat, ash, and other nutritional parameters.
-
Operate and calibrate lab equipment including NIR spectrometers, balances, and moisture analyzers.

Conduct lateral flow tests to detect mycotoxins within the raw materials
-
Maintain accurate and timely lab records in compliance with ISO 22000 and MS standards.

Alert the QA team to any deviations or quality issues and assist in root cause analysis.

Ensure laboratory cleanliness, proper sample storage, and safety protocols are maintained.

Assist with validation of suppliers’ raw material quality and shelf-life assessments.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES
-
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Laboratory Technology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
-
Experience in laboratory testing within a food manufacturing or nutrition-related environment.
-
Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 22000, Codex Alimentarius, or HACCP protocols.
-
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced production setting.

Experience with mycotoxin testing or fortified food products is an advantage.
2.0 MACHINE OPERATOR

With a staff of over 590, we run schools, businesses, farms and a construction enterprise.
Beehive Centre for Social Enterprise operates a fortified porridge factory in Chileka that supplies Likuni Phala to school feeding programs across Malawi. Central to this process is the extrusion line, which transforms our maize-soya blend into a nutritious, ready-to-cook product.
We are seeking Skilled Machine Operators with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude to run and maintain extrusion equipment, milling equipment and related systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Operate, monitor, and adjust the extrusion machine and supporting equipment to meet production targets.

Set machine parameters including temperature, pressure, and speed in line with batch specifications.

Carry out pre-operational checks and assist in basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.

Ensure timely reporting of equipment faults or abnormalities to the maintenance team.

Maintain a clean and hygienic production area in compliance with food safety standards (GMP, HACCP).

Accurately complete production and downtime logs.

Support minor mechanical interventions during production changeovers and line setups.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES

Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related technical field.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating continuous food production machinery—preferably extrusion lines.

Practical knowledge of electrical control panels, gearboxes, motors, and pneumatic systems.

Ability to interpret machine data, troubleshoot performance issues, and respond to alarms or breakdowns.

Strong safety awareness, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
3.0 MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

To support reliable operations at our Likuni Phala factory, we are seeking a Mechanical Technician to ensure continuous running of machinery and plant equipment, including extruders, conveyors, grinders, and packaging lines. This position is vital to minimizing downtime and supporting safe production at scale.

3+ years of experience in food, beverage, or manufacturing plant maintenance.

Strong troubleshooting skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and gearboxes.

Experience working with milling or extrusion equipment is an advantage.
4.0 PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

We are looking for a Production Supervisor to oversee our daily manufacturing operations while ensuring the nutritional integrity of our product.

FACTORY MANAGER

As we scale up, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Factory Manager to lead our operations and drive excellence across all departments.
