The IT Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing end-user computer hardware and software. They will be involved in providing technical support to end-users, installing and configuring end-user computing and related systems, and ensuring the overall functionality and security of the systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues.
- Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components, such as hard drives, memory modules, and screens.
- Install and configure operating systems and software applications on laptops and other computer devices.
- Set up new computer devices including printers for users, ensuring they meet organizational standards and security requirements.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on computer devices to extend their lifespan.
- Upgrade hardware components to meet performance and compatibility needs.
- Provide technical assistance to end-users, addressing hardware and software-related queries.
- Offer remote or on-site support for computer devices related issues.
- Implement security measures to protect computers from malware, viruses, and unauthorized access.
- Maintain accurate records of computer repairs, installations, and configurations.
- Work closely with IT teams and other departments to resolve complex technical issues.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A diploma in Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the Operating Systems like Windows, MacOS and Linux.
- Familiarity with networking concepts.
- Familiarity with circuit board assemblies and soldiering
- Past experience as a laptop and printer technician or in a similar IT support role is beneficial.
- Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA IT Fundamentals, or vendor-specific certifications are preferred.
