
Malawi Bureau of Standards
The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) is a statutory organization established in 1972 by an Act of Parliament (Cap 51:02) with a mandate to promote standardization of commodities and their manufacture, production, processing or treatment and to provide for the verification and calibration of weighing and measuring instruments: and further to provide for matter incidental to or connected with standardization.
The MBS is inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested persons to fill the following vacancies:

Job Title: Human Resource Management Officer
Grade: BS6
Reporting to: Senior Human Resource Management Officer
Responsible for : Senior Assistant Human Resource Management Officer
Section: Human Resource Management and Development
Number of posts: One
Job Purpose
To provide policy guidance in human resource issues for the effective and efficient delivery of services.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Administering the performance management process and providing direction on management of outcomes;
2. Administering performance and reward management systems, processes and in accordance with code of conduct in a way that ensures legal, consistence and fair reward for performance and discipline of staff;
3. Developing and maintaining Human Resource record systems in accordance with current employment
legislation;
4. Coordinating and managing the Bureau’s pension, medical and other insurance policies;
5. Administering salaries and submitting monthly, quarterly and annual payroll progress reports;
6. Mentoring and supervising sectional staff through provision of feedback to ensure that staff achieve the highest level of performance;
7. Handling all disciplinary matters for staff;
8. Handling workers’ compensations;
9. Preparing Personal Emoluments Budget Estimates;
10. Interpreting and implementing staff Terms and Conditions of Service;
11. Managing leave days for the members of staff;
12. Developing and updating Job Descriptions in liaison with Heads of Departments or Divisions;
13. Processing and shortlisting application letters for employment;
14. Coordinating and handling of industrial relations matters.
Required Academic Qualifications and Experience
The applicant should possess:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field;
2. At least 3 years in the human resource field.
3. Be a member of a HR professional body such as IPMM.
