The Opportunity
Save the Children Malawi Country Office is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Education in Emergencies (EiE) Project Manager.
The EiE Project Manager will be responsible for the effective and high-quality implementation of the Education in Emergencies project across target districts. Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager, the postholder will serve as the key operational link between project partners and district-level stakeholders, ensuring smooth coordination, monitoring, reporting, representation, and information sharing in line with the approved project design and donor requirements.
The role entails day-to-day oversight of project activities and district-based implementation teams, ensuring timely delivery of project outputs. The EiE Project Manager will work in close collaboration with local implementing partners, providing technical and operational support to ensure that deliverables are met with a high standard of quality.
The postholder will be accountable for ensuring compliance with donor rules and regulations, managing stakeholder relationships at both district and community levels, and maintaining a strong focus on results. The role also requires the development and maintenance of effective working relationships with District Councils and local partners, serving as the project’s primary liaison and representative at the district level.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the EiE Project Manager may be required to adapt the role and working hours to respond to urgent needs beyond the standard scope of responsibilities.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
- A university degree in a relevant field is required, with preference for candidates holding a master’s degree in education, Project Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or development agencies, including substantial field-based work.
- At least 3 years of direct experience in managing Education in Emergencies (EiE) programs or portfolios, preferably in crisis or conflict-affected settings.
- Proven ability to lead and manage project teams, coordinate district-level implementation, and deliver results under time and resource constraints.
- Postgraduate certification or formal training in Project Management and/or Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience with donor compliance, results-based reporting, and working with multiple stakeholders, including government and local partner
