CREDIT AND MARKET RISK OFFICER (RISK DEPARTMENT)
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Risk Manager, the position holder ensures the establishment and implementation of an effective credit risk management and market risk management frameworks.
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, among other responsibilities:
- Contributes to the development of the Credit Risk Management Framework and manuals in collaboration with the Credit function
- Reviews credit risk management policies and models including scoring models, provisioning models and ensures the models are relevant and effective
- Reviews the Credit Risk appetite statement and provide recommendations to Risk Manager and Head of Risk
- Monitors compliance to all credit related regulatory requirements and escalates on any breaches for action.
- Conducts research work on credit risks locally and globally and advise Management on emerging risks
- Investigates malpractices or any irregularity in the Credit value chain
- Perform regular stress testing and scenario analysis on the credit book.
- Facilitates the development and maintenance of the Credit function Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
- Monitors implementation of the market risk frameworks and policies through reviews
- Monitor compliance to and escalate Risk appetite statement breaches as appropriate.
- Contributes to monthly and Quarterly liquidity and Market Risk reports
- Contributes to stress testing of the Balance sheet and capital by inputting data and analysing stress results and make recommendations based on the results
- Prepares and submits monthly and quarterly credit risk reports
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, Auditing or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Certification in Credit Risk Management will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL COMPETENCIES
- Minimum of 2 years experience in credit processes and management.
- Planning and organising skills
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
