The Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Authority (NGORA) is a Statutory Corporation mandated to register and regulate operations of NonGovernmental organizations in Malawi. To deliver on its core mandate, the institution is looking for dynamic and well versed individual to fill the following senior management post:

Job Title: Chief Executive Officer/Registrar of NGOs
Grade: NG 1
Location: Head Office
Reporting to : The Board Chairperson
Supervision to : Director of Corporate Services, Director of Registration and Compliance Services, Public
Relations and Stakeholder Engagement Officer, Internal Auditor

Job Purpose:
To manage the day -to -day operations of the Authority and ensure that performance targets as agreed with the Board are achieved through specific performance targets with key staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Formulating, developing and recommending for Boards approval, policies plans strategies and budgets
  2. Providing general oversight of the Authority’s operations
  3. Fostering operational and functional linkages between the authority and its stakeholder organizations.
  4. Directing, monitoring and reviewing all departments in the formulation of policies and business plans to meet the Authority’s mission in line with existing legislations.
  5. Organizing, preparing agenda and Board papers to facilitate Authorities meetings
  6. Identify organizational structure changes and staff skills requirements
  7. Putting in place the required management systems and processes to manage the motivation of staff.
  8. Preparing and organizing performance reports
  9. Representing the Board at different fora.
  10. Advising the board on NGO- Related Matters

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  1. Minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in either: Business Administration, Economics, Law or any other related discipline from an accredited or recognized learning institution of higher learning by the National Council of Higher Education.
  2. Seven (7) years working experience at senior management level
  3. Good understanding of national and international standards, norms and practices relating to NGO regulations and registrations
  4. Good leadership skills
  5. High degree of integrity
  6. Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  7. Excellent communication skills
  8. Excellent team building skills
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills
