The Makazi Foundation is seeking a Psychosocial Support Specialist to join our Board of Trustees. This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise in mental health and well-being to an organization dedicated to empowering Malawian youth through education, psychosocial support, and vocational training.
About the Makazi FoundationThe Makazi Foundation is a youth-focused nonprofit organization committed to breaking the cycle of poverty through holistic education, psychosocial support, and skills development. We work to ensure that vulnerable youth have the emotional intelligence, resilience, and skills necessary to build sustainable futures.
Role & ResponsibilitiesAs a board member, you will play a critical role in shaping our psychosocial support initiatives, ensuring they align with best practices in mental health. Key responsibilities include:
- Advising on mental health strategies to support youth development.
- Providing insights on trauma-informed care and emotional well-being programs.
- Assisting in the development of policies and interventions that promote mental health awareness.
- Supporting the foundation in capacity-building efforts related to psychosocial support.
- Attending quarterly board meetings and contributing to strategic decision-making.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or any mental health-related field.
- Additional relevant certifications or experience in trauma counseling, youth mental health, or community-based psychosocial support are an advantage.
- A strong commitment to youth empowerment and community development.
- Ability to dedicate time to board meetings and strategic planning sessions.
- Prior experience in nonprofit or advisory roles is a plus.
