Agronomy Area Manager

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the Vacant position of AGRONOMY AREA MANAGER.

THE POSITION

As a member of Management team, the Agronomy Area Manager shall be responsible for all Agronomy Area functions and will be reporting to the Head of Agronomy.

Key Performance Areas:

Farmer Registration

• Submit the tobacco production plan to the Head of Department
• Register farmers
• Allocate production area per FT – revise production area before the start of every season.
• Follow up on internal procedures
• ALP and STP surveys
• Improve farmer satisfaction/retention

Input Distribution

• Oversee and control crop input distribution.
• Reconciliation of inputs distribution
• Submission of distribution summaries

Training

• Establishes demo plots
• Ensures the field days are attended to by all leaf technicians
• Keeps training records conducted in his / her Area
• Ensures that subordinates have full knowledge and understanding of all tobacco agronomical practices, Agricultural Labour Practices (ALP) and Sustainable Tobacco Production (STP)
• Carry out ToT Trainings and grower filled days unannounced visits

Loan recovery

• Ensure full recovery of crop input loans
• Monitor loans
• Submission of reports on loan recoveries

Administration

• Appraise Field Technicians on a quarterly basis
• Ensure submission of monthly reports.
• Arrange trainings, field days, demonstration plots in conjunction with Field Technicians and growers.
• Fleet management of the area, including service and cost tracking, fuel usage and accident communication.
• Identify areas to carry out Corporate Social Responsibility Programs for the section
• Maintain good relations with stakeholders: ARET, TC, AHL, customers, tobacco grower’s associations, and transporters.

Qualifications:

• Should be 30 – 45 years of age
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or its equivalent

Experience:

• 5 years’ experience performing the above-mentioned Key Performance Areas (KPA) in a large organization.
