AGROFORESTRY TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

Who we are:
Inter Aide is an association specialized in practical development aid programs for particularly disadvantaged families living in rural areas. In 2024, Inter Aide managed 51 programs in seven countries (Ethiopia, Guinea, Haiti, Malawi, Madagascar, Mozambique and Sierra Leone).
Inter Aide has been working in Malawi since 1992 and is currently present in 10 of the country’s 28 districts, in the Central and Southern regions.
Since 2020, Inter Aide has been supporting small-scale farmers in areas where access to fuelwood is a growing challenge. The project aims to contribute to wood production at farm level by regular tree
pruning in order to meet the energy needs of rural households and to generate additional income through the marketing of products from the plantations.
The mission:
The main task of the Technical Assistant (TA) will be to provide support to the program team in the field, develop and evaluate the activities implemented under the program in the intervention area. He/
she will also have to prospect new areas for future expansion of the intervention in and outside the district. The TA will work with a team of twelve technical and support staff.
In this role, the TA will be responsible for:
– Supervising, evaluating and strengthening the capacity of the program team;
– Ensuring the quality of technical training offered to farmers and the team, updating and writing technical and training guides;
– Ensure compliance with the objective of supporting the most disadvantaged farmers;
– Monitoring and evaluating impact of the program and carrying out various studies;
– Strengthening the collaboration with the government, local authorities and other stakeholders;
– Logistical coordination of the program;
– Financial and operational reporting to the Head of Sector and the Head of Administration and Finance;
– Strategic reflection on the contents of the program (messages, approaches) and its geographical deployment (identification of future areas of intervention, possible relocation of offices) The TA will be required to travel frequently to the areas of intervention and occasionally to other parts of the country.
Qualification and Experience:
– Degree project management or equivalent, specialization or experience in Agroforestry, Agroecology in sub-Saharan context.
– Professional experience in coordinating programs in rural areas or in sub-Saharan context. Strong preference for field work
– Hands on experience of setting up and monitoring and advisory support systems in farming areas.
– At least four years of experience in human resources management.
– Rigorous and organized, autonomous, dynamic and adaptable
– Good communication skills
– Fluent in written and spoken English
