With over 15 providing services within the unique environments of post-conflict and insecure regions, FLAG has succeeded at serving over 1,000 businesses and local communities, reaching an estimated 5,500 direct beneficiaries and 45,000 indirect beneficiaries.

FLAG International is seeking candidates for a RFP response to a Malawi Ministry of Natural Resources, Energy and Water program titled: Consultancy Services for Designing and Installation of Geological Data Management Information systems. It is a 12-month project located in Malawi, and the Geo-data Management Centre will be based at Geological Survey Headquarters in Zomba.

The objective of the assignment is to ensure that a web-based GDMIS is designed, developed and installed in the Geodata Management Centre (GDC) and that on the one hand staff is properly trained to manage the data, and on the other the general public have full access to the data.

Roles and Qualifications

We are seeking local consultants for a team consisting of a system architect, database specialist, software developers, testing engineer, training manager, and quality assurance control candidates.

Key Professionals / Specific Expertise Desired / Minimum Qualification and Professional Experience Desired:

1. System Architect

-Having designed minimum two end-to-end software systems, preferably for web application.

-BSc/ MSc in Computer Science, IT or related with minimum 5 years of experience in the relevant field.

2. Database Specialist

-Having experience in designing and managing the database for minimum two projects, preferably for web application.

-BSc/ MSc in Computer Science, IT or related with minimum 5 years of experience in the relevant field.

3. Software Developers

-Having developed minimum three software systems with similar level of intricacies, preferably web application development.

-BSc/ MSc in Computer Science, IT or related with minimum 4 years of experience in the relevant field.

4. Testing Engineer

-Having relevant experience in minimum two projects, preferably web application development.

-BSc/ MSc in Computer Science, IT or related with minimum 2 years of experience in handling the relevant field.

5. Training Manager

-Having relevant experience in minimum two projects

-BSc/ MSc in Computer Science, IT or related with minimum 2 years of experience in handling the relevant field including handling of geoscientific data i.e. remote sensing, geophysics, geochemistry, geological data

6. Quality Assurance Control

-Having relevant experience in similar projects.

-BSc/ MSc in Computer Science, IT or related with minimum 5 years of experience in the relevant field

Malawi and the Geo-data Management Centre will be based at Geological Survey Headquarters in Zomba.
