ESCOM is now inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions currently existing within the Corporation.
DIRECTOR OF DISTRIBUTION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE (1 Position)
Grade: ES3
Location : Head Office – Blantyre
Supervised by: Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Purpose of the Job
The Director of Distribution and Customer Service shall be responsible to the Chief Operations Officer in the performance of his/her duties and responsibilities to effectively plan, organize, direct, control and manage the Distribution Licensee, as a Strategic Business Unit (SBU), with complete responsibility over core activities, sales and support functions; ensuring production efficiency, quality service and cost- effective management of resources in the Distribution Division of the Corporation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Distribution and Customer Service shall be responsible, but not limited, for the following:
1. Directing and guiding the Distribution Division in the preparation of inputs to the Corporation’s strategic and business plans and ensuring the submissions address the requirements of the Corporation’s mission and objectives;
2. Representing the Distribution Division in the Corporation’s strategic and business planning processes;
3. Ensuring that action plans for each department within the Distribution Division are derived from the Corporation’s business plans, and in liaison with other divisional heads, that the material, human, and financial resources are available in the short, medium and long-terms for smooth implementation of such plans;
4. Ensuring timely preparation of the Division’s Revenue and Capital budgets to facilitate the translation into action of the requirements in the corporate strategic plans;
5. Guiding and overseeing the overall Distribution Division’s function in line with the Corporation’s set goals;
6. Continuously monitoring progress of each sub-division and Department and taking corrective action or introducing adjustments or alternatives to strategy implementation as dictated by available resources;
7. Ensuring that the Operations and Maintenance of the Distribution system and network and associated ancillary equipment are properly managed, with emphasis on quality and reliability of supply;
8. Formulating policies, technical or otherwise, relating to the Distribution operation and maintenance functions;
9. Carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.

The ideal candidate for the position must possess the following:
- Impeccable skills in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

- Ability to operate effectively both independently and as part of a team
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a relevant Master’s Degree in any of the following fields:
- Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Sustainable Energy Systems, Energy Engineering, Business Administration, or Management from a recognized university.
- Must be a registered member of the Malawi Engineering Institution (MEI).
- A minimum of ten (10) years of work experience in the field or inclustry, including at least five (5) years at a senior management level or higher.
- Applicants with experience in the power supply industry will have an added advantage.
APPOINTMENT AND REMUNERATION
The successful candidate shall be offered a negotiable performance. related contract for a period of three (3) years subject to renewal on satisfactory performance.
