Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective implementation of company strategies in the context of Parker Dunne Consultant’s vision, mission, and development goals.
  • Responsible for fundraising efforts, including writing of proposals, preparing tender documents, and preparing reports.
  • Strategic engagement of the Team Leader on all proposals and tender document development
  • Identify and create synergies with emerging opportunities that could advance national, regional, and global goals
  • Implement performance measures, monitor results, and support the Team Leader to evaluate the effectiveness of the national and regional development programs
  • Identify risks to national and regional  programs and ensure the development of mitigation plans
  • Build and maintain relationships with the national and regional network of partners
  • Oversee effective communication (traditional and digital) across the region
  • Provide thought leadership on relevant topics of assignments, including through public speaking, regular writing, and media appearances
  • Represent the firm at meetings; to funders, partners, the media, and the wider public at large
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as applicable laws governing operational matters

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with 7 to 10 years of experience in energy, climate change/environment, natural resources, or project management, a master’s degree with 5 years’ experience preferred
  • At least 5  years of relevant leadership and management work experience in a consultancy firm in Malawi or the Sub-Saharan Africa region
  • A strong leader, well-developed proposal and tender document writing skills, and a true ‘listener’ to diverse perspectives with experience in leading complex projects
  • Proven ability to identify and win strong work opportunities and build creative connections between geographic regions
  • Experience of working within African contexts; an understanding of the opportunities and challenges that brings.
  • Working knowledge of and keen interest in the current global debates on climate change, renewable energy, and climate justice
  • Experience working in a local and international setting, across countries and the region
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Desired skills and experiences

  • Good communication skills, able to build relationships quickly and collaboratively
  • Strong working knowledge of traditional and social media
  • Excellent proposal and tender document writing skills
  • Experience working in a consultancy firm with a proven track record of success
  • Experience and competency working in multicultural groups
