Project Background

The purpose of the Global Health Supply Chain (GHSC) program – Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) project is to ensure the uninterrupted supply of health commodities in support of USG-funded public health initiatives around the world. The project provides direct procurement and supply chain management support to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI). In supporting USG-funded global health activities, PSM will develop and manage a wide array of services for health commodity procurement and related systems strengthening technical assistance encompassing different elements of a comprehensive supply chain.

At the country level, GHSC-PSM supports country strategies and priorities that fall under the following three project objectives:

  • Global Commodity Procurement and Operational Support
  • Systems Support
  • Global Collaboration to Improve Long-Term Availability of Health Commodities.

We are currently seeking qualified professionals for the following positions:

JOB TITLE: Driver (2)

JOB LOCATION: Lilongwe, Malawi

REPORTS TO: The Operations and Procurement Manager

Position Summary

The Driver is responsible for providing transportation support to the GHSC-PSM program. The Driver will complete tasks related to transporting project personnel and business visitors, ensuring
vehicle maintenance and cleanliness, logging official mileage and vehicle usage, making routine deliveries, and performing other related tasks as needed.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transport the project staff safely to various destinations, as assigned.
  • Maintain proper and accurate records on vehicle movements.
  • Clean and check the assigned project vehicle daily to ensure smooth operation of the vehicle.
  • Check the vehicle oil gauge, radiator, brake fluid, tires, lights, and signals regularly.
  • Inform the Procurement and Operations Manager of any problems arising/observed related to the vehicles in a timely fashion so that such problems can be rectified promptly.
  • Always drive the project vehicle carefully and safely and always observe traffic rules and safety regulations. The driver is expected to request that passengers always use their seat belts
    inside the project vehicle.
  • Dispatch mail/correspondences for the project when necessary.
  • Comply with USAID regulations and Chemonics’ Professional Code of Ethics in all activities.
  • Collect quotations from vendors, upon request from Operations/Procurement Team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Level of Effort

This long-term position.

Qualifications

  • MSCE
  • Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics is preferred
  • Previous experience in USAID Funded Projects a plus
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
