Mechanical Engineer – Precision Engineering & Welding/Fabrication Workshop

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to lead and oversee our Precision Engineering and Welding/Fabrication Workshop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising day-to-day technical operations, guiding a team of machinists and welders, ensuring quality workmanship, and executing engineering projects with a high level of precision and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:Workshop Management & Supervision

  • Oversee all workshop operations including machining, fabrication, welding, and fitting tasks.
  • Manage a team of skilled technicians, machinists, and welders.
  • Ensure optimal workshop workflow, job allocation, and time management.
  • Enforce safety standards and promote a clean, organized working environment.

Engineering & Technical Duties

  • Read, interpret, and produce mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Perform mechanical fault diagnosis, component reengineering, and machining plans.
  • Guide and inspect precision machining tasks including lathe work, milling, grinding, and turning.
  • Supervise or execute fabrication, TIG/MIG/arc welding, and metal repairs on components.
  • Recommend or implement mechanical design improvements when necessary.

Quality Control

  • Conduct inspections on completed parts and welded structures to ensure dimensional accuracy and structural integrity.
  • Maintain calibration and operational integrity of workshop tools and machines.
  • Document repair procedures, material usage, and inspection reports for each project.

Client Communication & Project Planning

  • Assist in technical evaluation of customer requirements and project quotations.
  • Coordinate with sales and service departments for customer job updates.
  • Plan workloads, delivery timelines, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3–5 years experience in a mechanical workshop environment (precision machining + welding/fabrication).
  • Strong knowledge of machine tools (lathe, milling, boring, grinding).
  • Proficiency in welding techniques and material properties (steel, cast iron, aluminum).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance practices.
  • Leadership skills, team management, and workshop discipline.
