For Equality(FE) is looking for a Finance and Administration Lead to provide support for the organizations Finance and Administrative activities.
FE is a Pan-African women’s rights organization working to accelerate progress toward attaining gender equality. The organization’s vision is toward a gender-equal and just Africa. We work through engaging in policy processes through strengthening women’s movements; we build capacity and use dialogue to facilitate space for women’s voice, power, and influence; and we build and maintain a knowledge base related to gender equality, women’s rights, and sustainable development.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Finance and administration Lead will report to the Head of Finance and Administration and provide support through the following activities:
Finance
- Lead the financial management of FE, including the application of accounting principles as well as the development of financial plans and reports to support project management.
- Lead cash flow planning and management, including the anticipation and planning of fixed costs, asset replacement, and program costs.
- Oversee and support the development of operating, project and grant budgets and manage internal and external reporting.
- Ensure systems are effective in preventing, detecting, and identifying non-compliance with applicable regulations, laws and standards in the country. As well as support compliance with different partner and donor requirements.
- Prepare financial plans and maintain budgets in coordination with other staff and management.
- Supervise, manage, and maintain transactions, purchase orders, contracts and petty cash.
- Evaluate eligibility of expenses, ensure adequate supporting documents and proper authorization in compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining an inventory of all assets.
- Prepare regular financial statements and liaise with management on financial matters.
- Completion of ad hoc financial information requests.
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Finance team in response to external and internal audits.
- Other accounting /finance and analysis duties as assigned.
Operations
- Produce actionable recommendations to improve policies and procedures across (human resources, procurement, inventory, vehicles, facilities, and IT), and lead the day-to-day oversight of compliance with existing policies.
- Manage and develop the skills of staff in operations.
- Manage the procurement, contracting, and accurate and timely payment of staff, consultants, and external vendors.
- Ensure timely and strong competitive bidding process and ensure proper market assessments to inform cost and negotiated contracts to ensure cost effective implementation.
- Oversee the utilization and maintenance of vehicles including long term planning of use and replacement of assets.
- Support managers and staff in understanding human resources policy, promoting staff growth, and resolving staff issues.
- Oversee the provision of an office space and information technology suitable to a high-performance organization.
- Oversee inventory management, maintaining 100% accountability of assets and ensuring stock levels maintained in accordance with policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is an added advantage.
- At least 3 years of experience in financial management, budgeting, and administration, preferably within the nonprofit or development sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial planning, reporting, grant management, and compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in cash flow management, procurement, asset management, and financial risk mitigation.
- Experience in managing audits, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures, and responding to financial reporting requests.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate financial risks and operational efficiencies.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with internal teams, donors, Consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Commitment to gender equality, women’s rights, and social justice, with an understanding of the political and economic context of the African continent.
