Unitrans Malawi Limited, a prominent employer in the agriculture and logistics sector wants to recruit suitably qualified persons of Malawian origin to fill the following vacancies which have fallen vacant at its Dwangwa Depot in Nkhotakota district.
SKILLED DIESEL MECHANICS
Minimum requirements
- Must have a minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)
- Grade 1 National Trade Certificate or its equivalent obtained from a registered higher learning technical institution.
- Must have at least 5 years minimum experience, in repairing transport, mining and agricultural/farming equipment.
- Be able to do accurate fault finding on engines, transmissions, differential, hydraulic systems and electrical.
- Work safely and identify risks in and around the workplace, completing risk assessments before tasks are done.ยท
- Be able to close job cards with detailed feedback on work that was done when job is finished.
- Attention to detail – neat work.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others.Proper housekeeping around his work area.
- Be able to overhaul and/or rebuild all major components (engine, transmission, and differential).
- Be able to work independently and have a drive to complete tasks in good time
- Must have computer knowledge.
- Knowledge of usage of diagnostic equipment.
- Those with drivers license will have an advantage.
ARTICULATED HEAVY GOODS MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVERS AND EXCAVATOR/PLANT OPERATORS
Minimum Requirements
Duties and responsibilities
- Efficient delivery of sugar cane from fields to mill situated at Dwangwa Sugar Estate.
- Proper care and accountability of company property (i.e. motor vehicle, diesel and customer product) at all times.
- Compliance with company safety policy and procedures and always promote safety standards.
Skills and knowledge
- Must have knowledge of reporting accident/incident and defects
- Must have knowledge of optimum vehicle cost-effectiveness
- Must have sound knowledge of driver actions in terms of human/weather /road traffic conditions
- Must be conversant with functions and location of in-cab and other vehicle components
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of Malawi Junior Certificate of Education (those with MSCE will have an added advantage)
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Must have clean criminal record
- Willing to work in shifts and on public holidays
Applicants for position of Articulated Heavy Goods Vehicle Driver must have:
- A clean and valid driver’s license of code EC (or CE) and driving permit of G,D category
- At least 3 (three) years driving experience
Applicants for position of Excavator Operator must have:
- A clean and valid driver’s license of Code C and driving permit of G, D category
- At least 2 (two) years’ operating experience (Excavator)
