FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

The Association of Southern African National Roads Agencies (ASANRA) comprises National Road Agencies/Authorities, or Government Departments responsible for road infrastructure, traffic policy and regulatory reforms of SADC Member States. The Association was established in March 2001 in line with the SADC Protocol on Transport, Communications and Meteorology. ASANRA’s main goal is to
enhance regional policy coordination and road transport systems integration in order to improve intra-regional road transport efficiency and lower transport costs.

ASANRA is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill the position of Finance and Administration Officer tenable at its Secretariat in Lilongwe, Malawi. The Finance and Administration Officer is responsible for the general administration of the Secretariat within the prescriptions of ASANRA policies and regulations.

Reporting to the Programmes Officer, the Finance and Administration Officer will specifically be responsible for:

I) establishing and maintaining accounting systems accurately and efficiently to provide necessary financial statements, reports and management tools;
ii) establishing operating budgets and exercising budgetary control;
iii) reviewing and developing personnel and administrative policies;
iv) ensuring that operating tools are safe and in good working order;
v) developing and installing accounting and financial management and reporting systems that are responsive to ASANRA’s needs and meet the requirements and expectations of other stakeholders;
vi) managing and monitoring the performance of the assets of the organisation;
vii) ensuring that the assets are sufficiently insured;
viii) producing accounting policies and reports and
ix) general administration.

The desired candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:-

I) A Degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Accounting obtained from a recognized University. However, candidates with a postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Commerce or Accounting will have an added advantage.
ii) A minimum of five (5) years’ experience at a senior management level in a busy environment;
iii) Good computer literacy;
iv) Good Analytical skills;
v) Multi-tasking skills;
vi) Leadership skills;
vii) Strong communication and interpersonal skills and
viii) Ability to work in a team.
