Jacaranda Foundation is a charitable organization whose mission is to provide free Preschool, Primary and Secondary education in Malawi. Jacaranda Foundation is inviting applications from suitable qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Primary school Librarian.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Classifying and cataloguing library materials
– Sorting and shelving library materials
– Creating reading programs for primary school children
– Turn the library into a child-friendly and appealing environment for the youth
– Assist Primary School teachers on how to use the library for their classes
– Develop reading programs using computers or tablets and internet access
– Work hand in hand with primary school teachers to encourage reading in the children, not only during library times but also break times, in the classrooms, etc.
– Help develop a reading culture at the primary school.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Degree or diploma in Library and Information Science obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
