Post: Forestry Officer (Grade I)

Salary: Within the Grade I salary scale segment
Location: Department of Forestry

Qualifications

Applicants should be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Forestry, Soil Science, Natural Resources and Environmental Management, Environmental Management and ,
Biological Science (Forestry, Botanic and Genetics) obtained from accredited institutions.

Duties

(a) Enforcing the forest policy and law;
(b) Undertaking forest resources assessment and mapping;
(c) Establishing, protecting and managing forest plantations;
(d) Overseeing management of concession areas;
(e) Providing information on markets and prices for forest produce;
(f) Carrying out harvesting of forest resources;
(g) Drafting project proposals and implementing projects;
(h) Planning and controlling financial and other resources;
(i) Managing and reviewing performance of subordinates and making appropriate recommendations;
(j) Producing monthly and quarterly progress reports.

Note: Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
