NICO Life has a vacancy for an Actuarial Technician, tenable at their Head Office in Blantyre. The successful candidate, who will be responsible for providing actuarial and business support to the company, will undergo a training and development programme which will lead to a progressive career in this field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent’s key areas of responsibility shall, amongst others, include:

1. Valuation and reporting.
2. Experience monitoring
3. Actuarial risk control.
4. Capital management
5. Product management
6. Collaboration – Training, development, and mentorship of in-country actuarial environments.

REQUIRED SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES

1. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact and collaborate with Management and functional staff at all levels.
2. A self-starter and self-motivated individual, takes initiative and ownership to bring tasks to completion.
3. Results driven
4. Analytical logical thinker with good problem solving skills.
5. Ability to work on a wide range of deliverables at the same time.
6. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
7. Good communication skills.
8. Flexible
9. Pragmatic
10. Good Ms Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access)
11. Previous modelling experience or exposure to Prophet preferable.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

1. A first relevant degree from reputable and recognized university.
2. A good understanding of life insurance and pension administration businesses.
