Job Title: Finance Manager
Location: Blantyre, Malawi

Principal Accountability
The Finance Manager (FM) provides both operational and program support to the organization through timely and accurate processing of financial data.

CAMFED (the Campaign for Female Education) is internationally recognized as a leader in girls’ education, for its child protection policy and practice, and as a voice for girls’ education and women’s empowerment at the highest levels. Founded in 1993, CAMFED supports girls throughout their primary and secondary school years and supports women to transition to productive and fulfilling livelihoods and onto leadership, as role models, activists, and philanthropists. CAMFED operates in Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. CAMFED began working in Malawi in 2009, and is currently operating in all the districts, working closely with the Ministry of Education.
Specific Accountabilities
Financial Accounting
-
Maintenance of the Fixed Asset register and leads in conducting quarterly asset verification exercises.

Supervise the payment process to ensure approved PRFs are processed timely, and payments are made on the agreed days.

Reviews the files for Bursary and Tertiary support payments.

Audit of payments on the bank portal or mobile wallet before they are authorized by responsible signatories.

Conducts weekly petty cash spot checks.

Review and Production of balance sheet reconciliations: including KIVA reconciliation

Maintain proper filing of all finance related documents and audit trails.

Review of Journals on daily basis
-
Management of scanning of MCF Project documents.
Project management support
-
Production of weekly flash reports on expenditure for sharing with the Senior Management Team.

Ensure LPO Tracker is update and agrees with PRF REPORT and Bank statement.

Weekly update of the Matching tracker by ensuring that spend is as per the plan.
Budget preparation
-
Prepares the Annual budgets and budget reforecasts.

Prepares quarterly planning & compliance tool.
-
Supports the production of donor budgets.
-
Supports provisioning of financial information during production of donor proposals.
Audit Management
-
Supports in coordinating Statutory audits.

Supports Project audits.
-
Ensure implementation of audit recommendations
Stakeholder Management
-
Management of relationships with internal and external stakeholders like the Bank, Tax authority etc.
Staff management
-
Supervise and manage the performance of the Finance Officers for effective discharge of their daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly finance deliverables.
Field monitoring
-
Carry out regular field monitoring visits to review proper usage of program funds and provide capacity building to partners.
Governance and Internal Controls

Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization e.g fuel management system, stock management etc.

Any other duties as may be deemed necessary by the Head of Programs.
Person specification

Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance,
-
A minimum of 5 years’ working experience in the same or similar position and with at least 3 years’ experience working at supervisory/ middle management level.

Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with a minimum of 3 years working experience in the same or similar position with at least 2 years ‘experience working at supervisory/ middle management level.

Knowledge of Microsoft applications especially Excel and ERP Systems.

Ability to align financial strategies with organizational objectives.

Ability to lead and motivate finance team effectively.

Understanding budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to manage program costs.
