Lilongwe Golf Club is inviting application from suitable qualified candidates to fill in the vacant position of General Manager.

The Organization

Lilongwe Golf Club is an exclusive self-sufficient non-profit sports and entertainment Club.

Duties and responsibilities

This is a leadership position for Lilongwe Golf Club. The incumbent shall report to the Board of Directors through its chairperson on matters relating to all business of the Club.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take charge and provide strategic and overall planning, direction, co-ordination, supervision
    and control of the club’s functions and assets to gain an efficient and effective achievement of
    work plans and high-level customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor the quality of products and services  provided and control revenue and expenditure to
    ensure adherence to policy, regulations, systems and procedures in order to attain good corporate governance.
  • Market Lilongwe Golf club to attract and grow the business to ensure sustainability and viability of club’s operations.
  • Oversee proper management of facilities and ensure smooth operations as required from time
    to time.
  • Ensure that Manpower needs are met through appropriate recruitment, remuneration,
    promotions, staff development and disciplinary procedures and systems.
  • Implement Board policy decisions and advise the Board on the performance of the club.
  • Keep abreast of trends and business development in the sports and entertainment industry.
  • Perform and other duties as may be assigned by the Board from time to time.

Qualifications

A Master’s Degree in Hospitality Management/Business Administration or related field with 3-5
years’ experience in a senior position in a reputable organisation. Those with a Bachelor’s Degree and
over 5 years of experience in a similar role are as well encouraged to apply.

Competencies and Attributes

  • Exceptional computer literacy especially of MS Word, Excel and outlook.
  • Hands-on team player and self-motivated with strong focus on quality.
  • Willingness to undergo self-development to increase skills and knowledge.
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Compliance with Club’s Management Systems and procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR principles.

Remuneration

The successful candidate will be offered and engaged on a two-year performance-related contract with an attractive consolidated salary and benefits commensurate with the seniority of the position.
