Position Summary:
SurePay is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Business Development Manager to lead and expand its operations in Malawi. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, a deep understanding of the financial services or payment solutions industry, and a strong network within the markets of Malawi. This role is pivotal in driving growth, forging strategic partnerships, and ensuring SurePay’s market leadership in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Expansion and Strategy:
· Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy tailored to the unique market dynamics of Malawi.
· Identify and assess new market opportunities, customer segments, and revenue streams.
· Monitor market trends, competition, and regulatory changes to adapt strategies accordingly.
Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement:
· Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including banks, financial institutions, telecom operators, government bodies, and NGOs.
· Negotiate and close high-value partnerships and agreements that align with SurePay’s goals.
Sales and Revenue Growth:
· Drive sales efforts to achieve revenue targets and ensure profitability in the Malawi markets.
· Lead the end-to-end sales cycle, including prospecting, pitching, and closing deals.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, and operations, to ensure alignment with market needs.
· Provide mentorship and guidance to local business development teams.
Reporting and Analysis:
· Prepare and present regular reports on market performance, sales metrics, and growth initiatives.
· Utilize data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
· Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development, sales, or related roles, preferably in the financial services or payment solutions sector.
· Strong understanding of the business landscape in Malawi, including cultural, economic, and regulatory factors.
· Proven ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships.
Preferred:
· Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent.
· Experience working with fintech or digital payment platforms.
· Knowledge of mobile money systems and their role in financial inclusion.
Skills and Competencies:
· Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
· Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
· Fluency in English; knowledge of Swahili or other local languages is an advantage.
