Role Description
The Head Chef will be responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of the culinary program at Mvuu Lodge. This is a full-time on-site role located in Liwonde, Malawi. The daily tasks associated with this role include menu development, ordering and managing inventory, recruiting and training kitchen staff, ensuring food quality and presentation meet the expectations of guests, and ensuring that all work is performed in adherence to health and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Cooking and Culinary expertise
- Management and Supervisory experience of kitchen staff
- Understanding of Health and Sanitation guidelines and protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse culinary, front of house, and management teams
- Experience in managing inventory and budgeting in a professional kitchen environment
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a larger team and adapt to a changing work environment with ease
- Degree in culinary arts or relevant field of study preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a culinary leadership capacity
Note: Experience working in remote and/or wilderness environments is valuable, but not required.
