Laboratory Technician

Mangochi District Council with support from the American people through US Agency for International Development (USAID), will over the course of three years, implement critical health and social welfare activities at the district level and contribute to the improvement of HIV/AIDS, Maternal and Child Health (MCH), TB, Nutrition and Family Planning (FP) in Mangochi district. To achieve the intended objectives of the government-to-government agreement (G2G) Mangochi District Council intends to employ additional Health workers.

The Council therefore invites suitably qualified Malawians who will be employed under the employment terms and conditions of the Government of Malawi (Salary inclusive) to fill the below vacant positions existing in Mangochi District Council.

POST : Laboratory Technician (Grade HK/M9) -2
SALARY : Within Grade M9 salary scale segment
LOCATION : Mangochi District Council (Health facilities)

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. 1. Examination of specimen.
   2. General cleaning of working places.
   3. Preparations of specimen containers and reagents.
   4. Performing daily maintenance and quality controls for the day’s work.
   5. Reporting of results of yesterday’s specimens previously examined or which has been left over a night.
   6. Receiving of specimens from wards, outpatient and district or private hospital
   7. Collection of specimens from wards, outpatients or private hospital
   8. Registration of names and species in the log book.
   9. Processing specimens.
   10. Reporting of results and writing up the log book.
   11. Sending out results to various departments.
   12. Recording data in relevant registers/ instruments, perform routine analysis, monitor performance and report to supervisor following the HMIS and other
       technical guidelines.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be in possession of a Diploma in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences and must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi.
