Global Health Informatics Institute (GHII)

The Global Health Informatics Institute (GHII) is a non-profit organization working at the intersection of science, engineering and global health to address problems of global health importance through development of local solutions and capacity (https://www.ghii.org). GHII is inviting applications from suitably qualified, motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic individuals to fill the positions on 1-year renewable contracts. These positions will support activities under our cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease and Control (CDC) to increase the utilization of data collected through electronic medical record systems.

Summary of Responsibilities for Data Analyst

 

  • Understand data storage and data sharing methods.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Convert or visualize data into usable information that is easy to understand.
  • Collate and clean data from different sources by assessing quality and meaning of data.
  • Prepare reports stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  • Prepare final analysis reports for stakeholders to understand the data-analysis steps, enabling data-driven decisions.
  • Work with engineers and management heads to identify process improvement opportunities, propose modifications and new process improvement opportunities.
  • Process data requests from various stakeholders

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

 

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics or similar field.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Data Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, PostgreSQL and Python.
  • Strong mathematical/statistical skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data.
  • Technical expertise regarding database design development, data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Knowledge of data visualization software like Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, etc.
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, SAS, R or similar.
  • Knowledge of PEPFAR or HIV programming is an advantage.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with a team.
