Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Field Officers to drive community-level change at the heart of an integrated project tackling climate justice, resilient livelihoods, WASH, and health. A key focus of this role is promoting positive behavioral change, particularly in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), to empower individuals to make informed health decisions. Your daily activities will involve mobilizing communities, facilitating engaging training sessions, nurturing Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), and championing climate-smart practices. Crucially, you will foster social cohesion and conflict sensitivity, ensuring peaceful co-existence is a cornerstone of all project activities. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong facilitation skills and a passion for holistic, community-led development.
Key Responsibilities
Mobilize and sensitize communities on climate justice, climate-smart agriculture, and disaster risk reduction.
Facilitate training on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS prevention, and nutrition.
Promote behavioural change communication strategies related to health, gender norms, and environmental practices.
Facilitate community dialogues on peaceful co-existence, conflict resolution, and social cohesion, especially around natural resource use and access to services.
Form and strengthen Village Savings and Loan (VSLA) groups and link them to markets and financial services.
Support income-generating activities and small enterprise development (agribusiness, value addition, poultry, tailoring, etc.).
Work with community structures e,g. (VDCs, VNRMCs, health facility committees, mother groups, farmer cooperatives) to ensure inclusive participation.
Identify and document success stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
Collect accurate field data using digital or paper tools and submit timely reports to the Project Manager.
Identify and report safeguarding concerns through established feedback and complaints mechanisms (GRM).
Ensure gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) in all activities, with focus on women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
Represent OSSEDI Malawi at ward and district coordination meetings as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Public Health, Social Work, Agriculture, Environmental Management, Development Studies, Economics, Peace and Conflict Studies, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of field-level experience with a local or international NGO in Malawi.
Demonstrated experience in at least two of the following: climate adaptation/justice, SRHR/health promotion, livelihoods, VSLA methodology, economic empowerment, behavioral change communication, or peacebuilding/conflict resolution.
Technical skills
Excellent facilitation and training skills (in Chichewa and English).
Basic data collection skills (paper or digital tools like KoboCollect).
Knowledge of community mobilization and participatory approaches.
Understanding of conflict-sensitive programming and social cohesion approaches.
Soft skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

2. PROJECT COORDINATOR (1 POSITION)

Position Summary
The Project Coordinator will serve as the strategic lead for a high-impact, multisectoral initiative bridging Climate Justice, Resilient Livelihoods, and Health. A primary pillar of your leadership will be overseeing evidence-based strategies to drive positive behavioral change, particularly regarding Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and promoting peaceful co-existence across communities. You will provide the vision and management necessary to guide the full project lifecycle from planning and implementation to rigorous budget oversight and donor reporting ensuring all outcomes are delivered with excellence, on time, and in full compliance with international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall coordination, implementation, and monitoring of integrated project activities across all thematic areas.
- Lead community dialogues and strategies focused on behavioral change and peaceful co-existence, ensuring conflict-sensitive programming is at the heart of social cohesion efforts.
- Oversee the integration of SRHR, climate justice, and economic empowerment activities to maximize cross-sectoral synergies.
- Develop detailed implementation plans, procurement schedules, and project budgets in close collaboration with finance and technical teams.
- Supervise and mentor project staff (Field Officers, M&E Officers, and Facilitators) to ensure high-quality, impactful delivery.
- Build and maintain influential relationships with District Councils, Traditional Authorities, and relevant Government Line Ministries (Health, Agriculture, Gender, etc.).
- Ensure that Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles are practically applied across all project interventions.
- Prepare and submit high-quality, data-driven quarterly and annual reports; ensure all expenditures comply with donor regulations and internal financial policies.
- Identify and manage project risks, ensuring robust Feedback and Complaints mechanisms (GRM) and safeguarding protocols are active and effective.
- Document best practices, success stories (specifically regarding behavioral shifts), and lessons learned to inform organizational growth and national advocacy.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Environmental Studies, Public Health, Gender Studies, Economics, Social Work. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive project management experience within a local or international NGO in Malawi.
- Proven track record in managing integrated projects involving at least three of the following: SRHR/Health, Livelihoods, Behavioral Change Communication (BCC), or Conflict Resolution.
- Demonstrated success in budget management (over $200k+), staff supervision, and donor reporting.
- Prior experience working with district governance structures in Dowa, Machinga, or Zomba is a significant asset.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Expertise in Project Cycle Management (PCM) and Results-Based Management.
- Strong understanding of Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) and conflict-sensitive programming.
- Excellent negotiation, leadership, and team-building skills.

3 – MONITORING AND EVALUATION OFFICER (1 POSITION)

Position Summary
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will support the M&E Manager and M&E Coordinator in implementing the MEAL framework across all OSSEDI projects. You will ensure timely data collection, quality assurance, reporting, and learning. The role demands strong technical skills in digital data collection, analysis, and field-level capacity building.
Key Responsibilities
Support the implementation of project M&E plans, logical frameworks, and indicator tracking tables.
Design and manage digital data collection tools using KoboCollect, ODK, or CommCare.
Conduct routine data quality audits (DQAs) and field monitoring visits.
Clean, analyse, and visualize quantitative and qualitative data using Excel, SPSS, STATA, or Power BI.
Prepare quarterly, annual, and donor M&E reports with evidence-based findings.
Train project staff, community volunteers, and partners on basic M&E, data ethics, and reporting.
Maintain project databases and ensure timely data entry and backup.
Support the Feedback and Complaints Mechanism (GRM) by analyzing community feedback and tracking response times.

The Finance Officer will support the financial management and compliance of donor-funded projects under OSSEDI Malawi. The role involves maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing donor financial reports, supporting audits, monitoring budget utilization, and ensuring adherence to organizational policies and donor regulations. The position requires a highly organized professional with strong analytical skills and experience in NGO financial management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support preparation and submission of donor financial reports in compliance with funding requirements.
- Maintain proper accounting records, supporting documentation, and filing systems.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditure to ensure effective utilization of funds.
