Cement Products Limited (CPL) is a leading cement manufacturing company committed to excellence in production, safety, and environmental stewardship. We operate a modern quarry and plant facility supplying high-quality cement products to the Malawian market and beyond.
We are inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions:
1. LAB TECHNICIAN
Key Responsibilities:
➢ Conduct laboratory testing of raw materials, clinker, cement, and additives to ensure quality consistency.
➢ Analyse test results and prepare detailed reports.
➢ Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
➢ Collaborate with engineers and other technicians in conducting experiments and research.
➢ Assist in the development of new products and improvement of existing processes.
➢ Document all procedures and results accurately and maintain laboratory records.
Qualifications and Experience:
➢ Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.
➢ Experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
➢ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
➢ Familiarity with laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
➢ Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
➢ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
2. MINING ENGINEER
Location: Karonga & Mangochi Mines
Key Rensiponsibilities
➢ Thorough understanding of mining principles, operations, and regulations.
➢ Strong commitment to safety, security, and environmental standards.
➢ Sound knowledge and hands-on experience with blasting operations.
➢ Familiarity with coal wash plants and various crusher plants (limestone and others).
➢ Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills.
➢ Must be of sober mind and possess a high level of integrity.
Qualification & Experience:
➢ Minimum of 7 years
➢ Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field
3. HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (MOBILE PLANT MECHANIC)
Key Responsibilities
➢ Carry out routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of heavy equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, dump trucks, bulldozers, graders, and drilling rigs.
➢ Service and repair light vehicles and diesel-powered units (pickups, generators, forklifts, compressors).
➢ Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults and recommend effective solutions.
➢ Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and accurate service records.
➢ Ensure availability and reliability of mobile and fixed plant equipment to minimize downtime.
➢ Conduct safety checks and ensure all maintenance work meets safety and quality standards.
➢ Perform welding, fabrication, and minor bodywork as needed.
➢ Collaborate with other maintenance staff to achieve daily operational targets.
Qualifications and Experience
➢ Grade 1 or Advanced City & Guilds Certificate in Plant Mechanics or equivalent from a recognized institution.
➢ Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience maintaining both heavy-duty and light vehicles, preferably in a mining, quarrying, or cement industry environment.
➢ Experience in servicing and repairing XCMG front-end loaders and excavators.
➢ Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and braking systems.
➢ Ability to troubleshoot using diagnostic tools and interpret technical manuals.
➢ Physically fit, safety-conscious, and able to work under minimal supervision.
➢ Team player with good communication and reporting skills.
➢ A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage.
4. MECHANIC
Key Skills & Knowledge:
➢ Proficient in maintenance and repair of Benz Powerliner engines.
➢ Experience with Cummins engines (855, 12L, and 14L).
➢ Knowledge of HOWO trucks (371 & 420).
➢ Understanding of fuel and lubrication systems.
➢ Skilled in servicing and repairing Fuller, Star, and Eaton gearboxes.
➢ Knowledge of air brake systems for both horse and trailer (footbrake and handbrake).
➢ Ability to identify and rectify air system faults on both horse and trailer units.
➢ Capable of preparing daily vehicle checklists and following job cards.
➢ Strong adherence to safety standards and workshop procedures.
➢ Able to read, interpret, and apply technical diagrams and service manuals.
➢ Good teamwork and communication skills.
Qualifications and Experience:
➢ Grade 1 or Advanced City & Guilds Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or equivalent.
➢ Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in a busy workshop environment.
5. AUTO ELECTRICIAN
Key Skills & Knowledge:
➢ Proficient with Benz Power liner and Cummins engines (855, 12L, 14L).
➢ Experience with HOWO trucks (371 & 420).
➢ Ability to work on 12V and 24V electrical systems.
➢ Skilled in diagnosing and repairing computerized systems.
➢ Capable of reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and service manuals.
➢ Good teamwork and communication skills.
Qualifications and Experience
➢ Grade 1 or Advanced City & Guilds Certificate in Auto Electrical Engineering or related field.
➢ Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in auto-electrical maintenance.
6. BUS DRIVER
Key Skills & Knowledge:
➢ Competent in operating Torino and Tata buses.
➢ Sound knowledge of road safety and traffic regulations.
➢ Ability to maintain driver logs and vehicle condition reports.
➢ Punctual, responsible, and safety-oriented.
Qualifications and Experience
➢ Valid PSV Driving Licence.
➢ Minimum of 7 years of experience as a professional driver.
