Background of the Organization.
St John of God Hospitaller Services [SJOG] is a faith based charitable organization established in Malawi in 1994 to contribute to the development of Health for all by providing both residential and community based mental health promotion and care, maternal mental health and child & adolescent psychiatry programs. SJOG Malawi also delivers early intervention programs, inclusive education and community-based rehabilitation for children with disabilities. It works in partnership with the Government of Malawi, partner organizations, the community and individual families, to provide quality mental health care and disability inclusion services which are accessible, sustainable and comprehensive. SJOG has program interventions in the areas of older persons; street connected children, psychosocial counselling support, addiction recovery and self-help group approach for women empowerment. SJOG operates a University of Health Sciences offering tertiary level training for psychiatric nurses, psychiatric clinicians, psycho-social counsellors and general nurses.
SJOG would like to fill the following positions based in Lilongwe:
Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (1 Position- Lilongwe)
Reporting to Programs Manager, the main role of a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer is to design, implement, and manage systems that track project performance and impact, ensuring that data is collected, analysed, and reported accurately to support decision-making, accountability, and learning within the organization.
Responsibilities (which include, but are not limited to);
Work with the project team in designing, testing, and translating various M&E and research tools as well as activity monitoring plans and research work plans.
Lead the implementation, coordination, and supervision of MEL activities in the assigned project sites
Perform or assist in data collection, data entry, data validation, and data quality assessments
Assist the MEL and Communications Teams in documenting project impact and success stories
Liaise with internal and external project stakeholders in the assigned project areas to obtain information and data related to project performance.
Coordinating the development and implementation of an early warning system on the performance of the projects.
Coordinating Quality Assurance systems and review of standards and operation procedures.
Provide support to other special MEAL initiatives as may be needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, health informatics, demography or economics
Statistical software (SPSS, STAT, R, GIS Mapping. Etc)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in M&E or a similar role including internship experience
Knowledge of M&E concepts and tools
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication, planning, and organization skills
Good analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Strict Adherence to the Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy
