DIALYSIS UNIT MANAGER

Mwaiwathu Private Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Dialysis Unit Manager tenable at the Hospital along Chileka Road in Blantyre.

Position Context

Reporting to the Nursing Services Manager, the Dialysis Unit Manager leads and oversees the effective and efficient delivery of holistic and comprehensive clinical care and handling of all administrative matters of the Dialysis Unit.

Specific duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • To ensure effective implementation and monitoring of infection prevention and control measures in the unit.
  • To ensure that patients get comprehensive critical care that meets standards in the unit.
  • To ensure that staff conduct and present themselves in a manner that aligns with values of Mwaiwathu Private Hospital Limited.
  • To ensure compliance with all policies, health, safety and treatment protocols and procedures by everyone and all stakeholders in the unit.
  • To facilitates quality improvement initiatives within the Dialysis Unit
  • To manage staff performance using the Performance Management System to ensure achievement of the corporate vision.
  • To plan, coordinate and conduct unit staff meetings and in-service programs.
  • To develop and monitor the performance of annual budget for the unit.
  • To ensure effective and efficient allocation of staff in the unit by developing and implementing duty rosters on regular basis.
  • To supervise staff performance and conduct, support staff through training, CPDs, mentorship, coaching, discipline and delegation of duties among others.
  • To be the custodian of all the resources in the unit and be held accountable for them same.
  • To prepare and submit accurate weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reports to the Nursing Services Manager.

Educational Qualifications and Work Experience

  • University degree in Nursing and Midwifery with a minimum of two (2) years working experience.
  • University diploma in Nursing and Midwifery with a minimum of four (4) years working experience.
  • Typical working experience in a Dialysis Unit will be an added advantage
  • Paid up member of Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi
